Call for Papers: 8th Bremen symposium – Rethinking the role of Language Centres (1-3 March 2023)

Together with AKS e.V., the Language Centre of the University of Bremen will host and organize the 8th Bremen Symposium from March 1st through March 3rd 2023. This time the topic will be: RETHINKING THE ROLE OF LANGUAGE CENTRES: Flexibility, Relevance & Vision.

In the last two years, language teaching at universities and other educational institutions has undergone far-reaching changes, both positive and challenging. The emergence of new technologies, formats and methods, as well as changing learning settings, calls for new skills for all those involved in teaching and learning. Digital teaching, learning and assessment – whether online or in blended learning scenarios – has been used in higher education for some time, and is now standard in university language teaching and learning contexts. The task at hand is to further pool resources and expertise and to expand networks that can be considered and utilized in the conception of future language learning opportunities, also in terms of developing sustainability concepts in the portfolio of services offered by language centers. The 8th Bremen Symposium would like to offer a platform to discuss these processes from the perspective of language teaching and learning research, as well as related disciplines, and to focus on the future role of language centers with all their programs.

Proposals for contributions can be submitted between August 1 and October 31, 2022.
